 FAQs

Getting Started

  • Functional medicine takes a root-cause approach to health. Instead of just treating symptoms, it looks at the underlying imbalances or triggers that contribute to illness, such as nutrition, gut health, hormones, stress, environment, and genetics.

Conventional medicine often focuses on diagnosing and managing disease, typically using medication or procedures. While that’s essential in many situations (especially acute or emergency care), functional medicine is more personalized and proactive. It emphasizes lifestyle, prevention, and long-term healing by supporting the body’s natural ability to restore balance.

The two approaches can work very well together, and I aim to complement, not replace, your conventional care.

  • While doctors are trained to diagnose, treat, and manage disease, often through medications, procedures, or referrals, their time is typically focused on addressing immediate medical concerns.

As a nurse with a functional medicine approach, I do not serve as a primary care provider. I don’t diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medications, or manage emergencies. Instead, my role is to complement your existing care by spending more time with you, asking deeper questions, and helping you explore the root causes of your symptoms.

This insight helps you make informed, personalized decisions about your next steps, whether that involves lifestyle changes, advanced testing, or coordinating with your doctor or specialist.

  • Technology is powerful, but it has limits. When it comes to your health, you deserve more than generic advice or surface-level answers.

    Here’s what I bring that AI can’t:

    • Clinical judgment shaped by 22+ years of real world nursing experience

    • The ability to see the whole picture, not just isolated symptoms, but how your labs, history, lifestyle, and goals all connect

    • Insightful, human questions, the ones you might not think to ask, but that change everything

    • Personalized support that adapts with you, not one-size-fits-all suggestions, but a plan that fits your life, your challenges, and your goals

I don't just deliver information, I help you make sense of it, apply it, and move forward with clarity and confidence. That’s something no algorithm can do.

Services & Processes

  • I work with a wide range of health concerns, with a special focus on conditions that benefit from a functional medicine approach. This includes:

    • Autoimmune and inflammatory conditions such as MS, lupus, RA, or psoriatic arthritis

    • Chronic or “mystery” symptoms that don’t have a clear diagnosis

    • Individuals looking to optimize performance, prevent future health issues, and support long-term wellness

As a nurse, I help uncover potential root contributors through a combination of lifestyle strategies, clinical insight, and personalized guidance. When appropriate, I can suggest targeted lab testing or refer you to the right healthcare provider for further evaluation. My goal is to support your long-term health with integrative, individualized care.

  • During the initial appointment, we’ll take a comprehensive look at your health history, lifestyle, and current concerns. This helps me understand your unique situation and identify potential underlying causes of your symptoms. We’ll discuss your goals and priorities, and outline a personalized plan for moving forward.

  • Yes, I create personalized health plans tailored to your unique goals, lifestyle, and health needs. Each plan is designed to be practical, sustainable, and focused on helping you achieve the best possible outcomes.

  • While I offer both options, functional medicine is a process that usually requires at least three appointments to fully explore and address the root causes of your health concerns. For continued guidance, I also offer a monthly concierge membership, providing ongoing support, progress tracking, and personalized adjustments as your body responds.

Labs & Supplements

  • Yes, I’m able to order lab testing through a contracted physician. You won’t need to see or speak with the physician yourself, everything is handled behind the scenes to keep the process quick and seamless. During our appointment, we’ll determine which tests are right for you and place the order as part of your personalized plan. I am able to order a variety of testing including: specialty kit (at home tests), conventional lab testing, and some genetic testing.

  • Lab tests are not included in my packages, as individual needs vary.

  • Yes, typically, lab work done within the last 6 months is acceptable. However, it does depend on the type of testing and your current health status. In some cases, more recent or specific labs may be needed to ensure we’re working with the most accurate and relevant information.

  • Sometimes I do. While my priority is always to support your nutrition through whole foods, there are situations where supplements can be beneficial. If someone has specific deficiencies, dietary restrictions, or increased nutrient needs, I may recommend targeted supplementation to help bridge the gap. It’s always based on individual needs and never a one-size-fits-all approach.

Pricing & Policies
